Personal Information

Our ART lab serves about 20 fertility specialists throughout the Southern California area, and we do over a thousand egg retrievals a year. The Center is the IVF teaching facility for the Fellows in REI from UCLA as well as Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, arguably the two finest medical facilities in Southern California. This makes for a lively, intellectually active environment, as they all need a “project” to work on.

The past three years I have been focused largely with PGD work.  I believe in this technology, and whether we just count chromosomes is not the question – we won’t confine our analyses to this technique.  Embryos will be biopsied, and gene chips or other methods to analyze the removed cell will become extant before long.  We won’t know how we got along with “morphology” to select embryos for replacement.

I have been privileged to work these past 20 years with wonderful patients, and consummate professionals in this constantly evolving field.  One couldn’t want for much more.  I remain in awe of these patients, coming to us in faith to fulfill their dreams of a family.  They trust us implicitly, and we deliver on the dream more often than not now.  A truly wonderful thing.

Biography:

Dr. David Hill, Ph.D. HCLD, ELD (ABB) has been active in IVF and assisted reproductive technology (ART) since 1985. In fact, Dr. Hill discovered early on that his academic path would be rigorous. He obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the California Polytechnic State University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Connecticut.

He followed up with a postdoctoral fellowship at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute through the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. For the last 20 years Dr. Hill has been an IVF laboratory director and is presently Scientific Director of the ART Reproductive Center in Beverly Hills, California.

Academically, he is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles. He is also Research Coordinator for REI education at both UCLA and the Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

However, none of that has reduced this zest and energy for the sunny outdoors and you can find him (when not in the lab) cruising Hollywood Blvd. in his new Corvette convertible or street biking on one of his two Harley Duo-glides. If not there, then check Rincon for the last wetsuit riding the final wave.
